How to Optimize Your Blog Posts with Multiple Focus Keywords (Absolutely Free)

If you are still optimizing your blog posts for single keywords, then it is high-time to optimize your posts using multiple focus keywords to stay on top of the Modern SEO Best Practices.

Why?

Simply because using multiple focus keywords for a single post will lead you to the multiple rewards and achievements from your blog.

This practice will bring more targetted visitors to your blog and you know what magic can those highly targetted visitors can do with your blog in terms of leads, sales, and revenues.

Still need more reasons to get convinced?

Consider the following scenario:

Suppose you are about to write an awesome post on your recent Winter Trip to Delhi, India by Indian Railways.

Your ideal target audience might be something like that:

  • People who want to know about Delhi (without actually visiting it).
  • People who want detailed information on Delhi, it’s Tourist Spots and Indian Railways Service.
  • People who want to visit Delhi in Winter.

and the list is practically endless.

As a blogger, you must want (and you should) to write that piece of content on your recent Winter Trip to Delhi for all those mentioned audience.

Now the question is that which “Focus Keyword” will you use to serve your purpose.

In this case, chances are too low to find a single focus keyword on which you will develop your content that will serve the purpose of reaching all kinds of visitors for your post.

That’s a huge problem.

Worried?

Don’t be.

Say hello to, “Multiple Focus Keywords

If you are a WordPress Blogger (just like me), you are probably using an SEO Plugin to take care of your SEO needs.

But the problem is:

If you want to use multiple focus keywords with those plugins, you must purchase their Paid Versions costing you a few $50 to $200 per year.

This can be a bit expensive for most of the newbie bloggers.

Right?

In this post, I am going to show you how you can take the advantage of using more than one focus keywords (legally) with the Free Versions of SEO Plugins.

For the ease of writing, I am going to take the famous SEO Plugin “Yoast SEO for WordPress” as an example to show you the actual procedure of optimizing your blog posts with multiple focus keywords with a fully actionable 4-step process.

If you are using another SEO Plugin for your blog, the basic procedure will be same for that case too.

To use multiple focus keywords to optimize your blog posts for free, you first need to know the secrets of your SEO Plugin.

That is:

This means it neither adds anything to the body of your content nor removes anything from it.

When you write or insert something into your content, it just analyzes and compares the same with some predefined rules of better SEO.

That’s it. Simple.

So you can make your existing SEO Plugin work for you to optimize your content for more than one keywords by changing the focus keywords only.

How?

I am going to show you the exact techniques I follow with my “Yoast SEO for WordPress” SEO Plugin to optimize my post for multiple focus keywords without spending a dime.

Pro-Tip: Although you are Free to optimize your blog posts for as many as focus keywords you want, but I strongly recommend you to optimize your posts for up to 3 focus keywords only. It is a Search Engine Safe Practice.

Step-2: Brain-Storm for Your Target Focus Keywords:

You knew this step will come.

Right?

Yes. You need to brainstorm your target focus keywords first to get the maximum benefit of this strategy.

I recommend you to select a good combination of 3 focus keywords containing a long-tail keyword (having greater than or equals to 3 words), a short-tail keyword (having 2 to 3 words), and a head keyword (having 1 word only).

For example, this post is optimized for the 3 focus keywords: “Multiple Focus Keywords (Long-Tail Keyword)”, “Blog Posts (Short-Tail Keyword)” and “Optimize (Head Keyword)”.

Step-3: Optimize Your Blog Posts for Multiple Focus Keywords:

You may or may not optimize each and every aspect of your blog posts with this strategy.

Do not worry.

This is natural in the most cases.

Ideally, you should put your focus keywords in the following areas of your blog posts to optimize them for multiple focus keywords:

  • Post and Page Title
  • Post/Page Slug
  • Post/Page URL
  • Subheadings
  • Images
  • Post Body

Aim to put your targeted focus keywords in these sections of your content at your best possible.

However, make sure you are NOT stuffing your content with those keywords.

Most Search Engines really hate “Keyword Stuffing” and they do not think twice before Penalizing those kinds of Keyword Stuffed Contents and Sites.

So be aware of that.

Your focus keywords should come naturally as per the requirement of your piece of content.

Step-4: Analyze Your Content:

I have a wordpress site www.ladyinrosegold.com. I have the free version of Yoast SEO Plugin. It only asks me for ONE Focus Keyword and not 3. Could you please suggest me how can I add 3 Focus Keywords to my Blog posts and their SEO analysis.

I’m using this plugin on most of my blogs and no single issues found with it so far.
